Fethiye Guide

Fethiye Ferry Port

Located on the Turquoise Coast in the warm south-west of Turkey is the stunning seafront city of Fethiye. This historic metropolis, built upon the ruins of the Ancient Greek city of Telemessos, is vastly popular during the summer months when visitors flock to the golden sands of Calis beach that trace the edge of a glittering Mediterranean bay. The summit of Babadağ mountain, found a short distance south of the city, is also a hot-spot for paragliders due to the breath-taking views if offers across the blue lagoon of the Ölüdeniz beach resort. The port in Fethiye consists of a short pier on the southern edge of the city’s bay, just along from the grand Ece Marina that dominates the promenade. Facilities here include a check-in and tourist information office, a small car-park and a harbour-side restaurant serving both hot food and snacks. The harbour is within a few miles of a trio of natural parks too, the most notable of which plays host to the ghost village of Kayakoy. The port is well supported by a number of transport routes. The D400 motorway that curves along the outskirts of the city covers a large swathe of the rocky coastline, from the city of Antalya in the south to Marmaris in the north. A bus station is a 15-minute walk from the port too. From here passengers can travel the short distance downtown or venture to one of the picturesque resorts that speckle the surrounding Mediterranean countryside. Two ferry services currently operate from the port. Both Tuana Maritime and Phoenix Marine lines sail north around the small peninsula of the tree-covered Orman Piknik Alanı park, before heading west across the open ocean to the Greek fortress town of Rhodes.
