What is there to do on Waiheke island?

The strenuous workouts can be achieved on both land and water; kayaking and surfing are both popular pastimes for locals and tourists, whilst ziplines and walking trails provide satisfying ways to work up a sweat. It’s easy to be swept up in the abundance of outdoor activity, however, there is more to Waiheke Island than exploring the mountains and hillside; the island has around 30 wineries consisting of tasting rooms and grandiose restaurants, most of which affording incredible vistas of the stunning surroundings. If wine-tasting isn’t your thing, you may be inclined to peruse the copious art galleries, showcasing some of the best work from modern artists, or venture round the sculpture park for some abstract pieces of art.

How do you get around Waiheke Island?

Continuing the health-conscious theme, e-bikes are a very popular mode of transport, as well as the regular pedal bikes that can be used to climb the steep hills. In regards to public transport, a reliable bus service is in operation around much of the island.
